10 Weight Loss Tips to a Healthier Body

If you are trying to lose weight, you probably know that it takes some time and effort. Maybe it’s been a few years since you’ve been active and you’re looking for ways to get started. Here are 10 things you can start doing today to lose those stubborn pounds.

1)Exercise: This is obvious, and yet many people still don’t do it. Even 15 or 20 minutes a day is better than nothing. Get up earlier, or go to bed later; you don’t need a gym membership, you can pop in a DVD at home.
2) Eat Right: Opt for vegetables instead of chips; fruit instead of chocolate. Plenty of antioxidants will fight the cancer-causing free radicals. Choose powerful foods like salmon, walnuts, berries, pomegranate, flaxseed oil and romaine lettuce.
3) Strength Training: You need to add strength training to your workouts in order to get your muscles toned. You don’t need to bulk up like a body-builder; but when you are toned, you will burn fat all day long.Kettlebell training is becoming very popular as an effective strength training program.
4) Walk: Park your car farther away from the front doors of your grocery store, and walk the few extra steps. Go for a walk around the block after dinner, or walk the dog for an extra 10 minutes.
5) Take the stairs: Instead of taking the elevator to your office, take the stairs. If you work on the 20th floor, take the elevator to the 16th. Then next week, take it to the 15th, and so on. Keep challenging yourself to do more.
6) Increase your protein: Protein helps build muscle. Whenyou include a bit of protein with each meal, you will build the necessary muscle that helps you burn fat. Even one teaspoon of peanut butter with your apple will help.
7) Eat smaller meals more frequently: This will help speed up your metabolism. When your body knows it will get another meal in a couple of hours, it will burn up what it has.
8) Drink your water: Get your 8-10 glasses in a day; add lemon or lime for a fruity taste.
9) Watch the cream in your coffee: Cutting out simple things like cream will add up over a long period of time. This one simple thing could have you 10 pounds thinner at the end of the year.
10) Cut down on sugar: Ditto on the sugar in your coffee; watch food packages that say ‘fat-free;’ chances are they are full of sugar. When your body can’t burn the sugar, it turns it into fat.
