Many people can suffer from acne at some point in their lives. It is more common among teenagers in puberty, but many adults suffer from acne throughout their adult life.
Acne can form due to obstruction of the pores. Pores can become clogged due to excessive androgen, a hormone that can cause the sebaceous glands to enlarge, creating an excess of sebum or oil. Dead cells of skin pores can also be responsible for the blockage of the pores
the bacteria are found naturally in the pores, but when the pore becomes clogged, the excessive accumulation of bacteria can cause an acne flare up. Genetics may also play a role in the presence of acne. Symptoms may include acne whiteheads, blackheads and various forms of inflammatory acne. It can be found on the face, back, shoulders, neck or chest.

A white dot can be formed when the trapped sebum under the skin, while a black dot can be formed if there is a break in the skin and the fat escapes to the surface, it oxidizes and turns black. Inflammatory acne, such as cystic lesions, papules and pustules may be painful if they become infected and may even acne scars.

There may be a number of different potential treatments for acne available to those seeking relief. Some treatments require a topical application, while others may be taken by mouth.
Keep skin clean by cleansing twice a day with soap or an acne wash can be the best way to control acne. Many treatments include benzyl peroxide or salicylic acid, which can be very effective as topical treatments.

Severe acne may require antibiotics or other prescription medications that should be discussed with a skin care. Birth control pills may prove to be effective too, but should be discussed with a physician or skin care before starting treatment.
