Within two years of the launching of the Simon Bolivar satellite, it has contributed significantly to the democratization of the access to information and communication technologies as a valuable tool for communication systems, determinants for social welfare.

Since its launch into space in 2008, the first Venezuelan satellite has marked an important milestone in our history, covering all the national needs related to telephony, data transmission, access and transmission of messages over the Internet.

This project, promoted by the Ministry of Popular Power for Science, Technology and Industry with support from the Intermediate People’s Republic of China, has represented equitable access to resources found in outer space and has as main objective to bring telecommunications sectors of the population for its poor and its remote location not ever interested companies providing the service.

It also has a platform that is integrated into the National Telecommunications Network Terrestrial Companies Anonym National Telephones de Venezuela (CANTV), which supports a number of services that contribute to the development of other programs in the economic, social, health, cultural and beyond borders.

In that sense, today, Venezuelan satellite signal is one of the byproducts Venerate 1 project, part of a strategic program designed from the spacecraft design, launch and positioning, to the construction of earth stations electrical substations, equipment, training and technology transfer.
