Under the “National Plan to Combat Blindness due to cataract, the Pasco Regional Health – Eye Health Health Strategy, in partnership with the National Eye Institute (INO) of the city of Lima and the Ministry of Health have begun recruitment of patients between women and men over 45 years to help them overcome the problems caused by the cataract.
People may be addressed in this campaign can be who suffer from problems such as blurred vision, trouble seeing the details, need more light for reading, continuous change of the extent of the lens and vision loss.
The plan aims at the reduction of cataract blindness in the elderly in poverty, in whom you want to improve their quality of life, considering it is the leading cause of blindness with major influence in the territory. To date it is estimated that over 83,000 elderly blind and that a large percentage of them cannot access treatment because of financial problems and lack of access to eye care services.
