Fitness for Health and Relaxation

The Ministry of Health, Government of Canary preventive information points installed in hundreds of health centers in the archipelago as part of a campaign entitled ‘Prevention is better than cure’ has designed the General Directorate for Attention to Drug Addiction in collaboration with from management of primary health care of Tenerife and Grin Canaries.

The Minister of Health, Mercedes Rondos, recently presented the details of this initiative with the CEO of Care for Drug Dependencies, Fernando Gómez-Pamo, the Primary Care Manager Grin Canaries, Elizabeth Hernandez, the director of nursing, Milagros Medina; and Area Coordinator, Ramon Acosta, presentation held at the Health Center Coeval Torres of Las Palmas de Grin Canaries, one of the selected points in the campaign to expose a wide range of informational messages and also covers preventive health care the field of drug addiction.

The origin of this campaign is because health promotion involves the population as a whole and in the context of their daily lives, not only to populations at risk for specific diseases.

The campaign aims to the effective participation of the population, promoting self-help and encouraging people to find their way to promote health in their community. In addition, in this context, health professionals, especially primary care, play an important role in supporting and facilitating the promotion of health.

Moreover, one of the priority objectives of the General Directorate for Attention to Drug Addiction is part of the concepts of promotion and health education, so that the development of preventive measures from a universal perspective is part of the strategies listed Canaries II in Drug Plan.
